www.artskinz.co.za

Unfortunately this site is no longer live as Artskinz had to shut up shop. I will move it over onto a test server at some point but until then this link is unavailable to look at. Sorry. Iaminawe recently created the website and identity for new startup, Artskinz, which manufactures high quality protective and stylish vinyl covers for your i-pod’s and laptops. The designs for the skins are cherry picked from a range of Cape Town’s hottest illustrators and fine artists including superheroes like Kronk, The Black Heart Gang, Mine Jonker, Love and Hate Collective, Carmen Ziervogel, Rick Treweek, Mikey Staal and host of other talent. There are also designs from underground graffitti maniacs Faith 47, Senyol, Warren Lewis and Wealz 130 with new designs and artists being added all the time. The site was created by integrating OSCommerce with Wordpress to create an online shop with blog attached. I won’t go so far as to say the integration was a painless one and I found trying to skin OScommerce effectively to be very tricky. We have a few designs in the range with more coming soon. Check them out and click to order any of the designs or see larger versions.

These designs came from our range of Cityflauge T-shirts so we have full cityflauge uniforms now :)

New Goldfish CD Artwork

CD Artwork Front

iaminawe recently completed graphic work on Goldfish’s second album including the print and multimedia components of the release. These included a poster, a tablecloth, a t-shirt, concert banners and bonus CD-ROM content containing a half hour live set of the fish in action. The CD is literally packed to the edge with tunes and goodies and we are proud to see our work getting exposure alongside the fishes beats and jazzy vibes. Keep reading to see some of the new designed stuff.

Design Indaba Stage Design

Iaminawe started the year off with a high profile stage design for the 10th Design Indaba conference held in Cape Town. The theme for the conference was “What does an idea look like?” and the very cool identity and advertising campaign was based around the motif of an empty thought bubble.

During the 2 days it took to set up and light the set, we timelapsed the process.

The stage design was commissioned by Interactive Africa and as it was a particularly interesting job, I thought we would share the process we went through. The timeframe was about 3 weeks from approval of the design to the launch of the conference so the concept needed to be simple enough to execute in such short time yet still create a memorable visual environment to frame the array of design supergurus that would be speaking at the event.

Design Indaba won the EIBTM Best Conference in the World award in 2005 and with this years event marking the 10th anniversary of the conference, Ravi and his team were looking to make it a special one. Wicked Pixels created some beautiful motion graphics that played out on the matrix of LCD monitors and projected screen and the overall effect was awesome.

Over the duration of the 3 day conference, it was an absolute honour to hear some of these visionary minds speaking passionately about design as a solution to many of the pressing issues the world is faced with today.

Vespa recently held a competition to design graphics on their new machine… and here a few that we entered. The three finalists were on display at the Design Indaba Expo and unfortunately iaminawe are not driving around on a custom designed vespa scooter yet.

Cityflauge T-shirts

iaminawe has teamed up with Fittees to create 5 new Cityflauge T-shirt designs currently on sale around Cape Town. The designs were realised with some very cool experimental printing techniques involving neon ink and bleach that gave the design a subtle 2 layers of detail. Thanks to the Fittees guys for modelling the tees in the gallery too :)

The “sheisaninja” design made it into the whatiftheworld gallery for their second t-shirt exhibition. We went to check it out but the gallery was closed so this was what it looked like from outside.
